This took some time. The colour we choose from Boatworks selection of pigments was a sky blue with a tint of turquoise.
We were trying for a river table effect. But the flowing water effect comes from the fact that the pigmented epoxy is poured into a cavity. We were trying to apply to a surface that wasn't always horizontal. And Timber BoatWorks video says you had to apply it in thin coats.
The first coat showed we had some work ahead. We probably chose too dark a stain as an underlay. It took extra layers of epoxy to get the stain masked.
So we experimented. Extra layers of electrician tape were added to give some depth to the epoxy. We poured, got drips, and runs. The technique that finally gave the variation in colour was to roll on a thin layer, wait for it to begin to setup and then with a small wire paint brush (Boatworks) brush a second layer of pigmented epoxy.
